Celebrating 40 years
We have built our reputation on quality, customer service and trust with our customers, founded in our mission of “quality you can stand on”.
At 19 years old, our founder Mike Young, started the business in 1985. His father’s distribution business was having challenges with wooden step ladders being broken in transit to his warehouse. In a family with entrepreneurial spirit, they set out to solve their ladder inventory issues by manufacturing their own brand of wooden ladders for the “trades”.
While attending university, Mike made the decision that dedicating himself to building the business and being a full-time entrepreneur was the right decision for him.
His father said, “If you’re going to do this, they need to be sturdy enough for real tradesmen to use every day” and set the vision for the future of Sturdy Ladder.
Today, Sturdy Ladder products have become a “generational product” handed down from father to son and taken from job site to job site because our products are built to last.
For almost four decades, quality, safety and reliability with robust products is the reason professionals in the construction and building trades continue to trust Mike and his team across North America.
